Ending a mentoring relationship
It’s totally normal for a mentoring relationship to come to an end — and it’s actually a healthy part of the process.
Here are some signs it might be time to wrap things up:
You’ve reached your goals
Meetings feel less focused or don’t happen anymore
There’s not much left to talk about
The connection feels one-sided
You’re ready to move on, but not sure how
💬 How to End It Well:
Have a final meeting to reflect together
Look back at what you’ve learned and achieved
Acknowledge how your goals may have changed
Set clear boundaries for future contact
And most importantly: celebrate your journey!
Endings can be emotional, but they’re also a great opportunity to appreciate the growth that’s happened.
Important: If the mentorship match doesn’t feel right or if you believe it should not continue, that’s completely okay. You can contact a member of our ReDI Talent Success Team at career@redi-school.org. We will assist you in finding a solution or arranging a new match. It's better to address these concerns rather than staying in a mentorship relationship that isn’t fulfilling or has reached its end.
