Final Project Phase
π Final Project - Spring 2025
The Final Project is a key milestone in the Data Analytics course and an essential part of the learning journey at ReDI. During this phase, learners apply the skills theyβve developed to explore real datasets, solve practical problems, and share their insights through a compelling data story.
π About the Project Phase
After completing the core curriculum, students begin the final project phase by working in small teams to complete a hands-on data project.
Learners will:
Work individually or in teams (up to 3 people)
Choose or receive a dataset to work with
Explore the data, identify trends, and present insights
Build a clear and compelling data story using visualizations
π‘ Goal: Apply core data analysis tools and storytelling techniques to a real-world dataset, while developing a portfolio-ready presentation.
π§βπ» Project Requirements
Each project must include:
Data cleaning and exploration (with Python and pandas or SQL)
Visualizations (with Matplotlib, Seaborn, or Plotly)
A well-structured Jupyter Notebook
A final presentation showing process, findings, and recommendations
π‘ Project Ideas
Students will work with provided datasets or find their own, depending on interest and scope. Project themes may include:
Gender representation in media or tech
Environmental data or climate change
Education and learning outcomes
City or country-level statistics
Any dataset that offers meaningful insights and is manageable within the timeline

π Attendance and presentation in the Class Demo Day are required for students to receive a certificate.
π€ Class Demo Day
The Class Demo Day is an internal presentation day where all student teams share their final projects with their classmates and teachers. This session is focused on:
Presenting data analysis findings
Practicing clear communication of insights
Building confidence in technical storytelling
Receiving feedback and celebrating progress
π Official Demo Day
The Official Demo Day is an on-site event where selected student teams present their projects to the wider ReDI community, including partners and alumni.
It highlights projects across all tracks
Teams selected to present will receive mentoring to prepare
π£οΈ Presentation Guidelines
To help learners prepare their pitch, hereβs a suggested format:
Length: Max. 5 minutes
Mode: Slides and or Jupyter Notebook walkthrough
Proposed Structure:
Intro β Whatβs the project, and what problem does it solve?
Demo β Show the live demo (notebook, code, visuals)
Challenges & Learning β What went well? What was hard? What did you learn?
π§Ύ Certification Requirements
To receive a ReDI certificate, learners must:
Attend at least 80% of the course
Participate in 2 Career Workshops
Complete and present a Final Project
Attend the Internal Class Demo Day
Complete 2 IBM SkillsBuild Courses
π€ Class Culture & Support
π¬ βWe grow by doing, and by helping each other.β
Foster a supportive, collaborative classroom
Dedicate time for project mentoring and peer reviews
Encourage learners to share resources, ask questions, and build confidence
